April is here and more cricket fixtures have been pencilled into the calendar. These include several new mid-week fixtures, including games for our U13B and U12B teams. It is expected that the school's final fixture list will be confirmed early next week, at which time these new fixtures will be added to the fixtures page.
Please note that due to the high number of mid-week fixtures that the cricket season is known for, games may be rearranged at short notice. Congratulations to our two Reading Lacrosse Teams, with the 1sts coming third and the 2nds coming fifth at today's Southern Flags Finals!
Also, a huge thank you is due to everyone who has represented the school throughout the course of the football season. Though all of the regular fixtures have now been completed, our superb cup progress across the six county competitions means that both the U13s and U14s will have at least one more game. Meanwhile, a full list of cricket fixtures for next term are now available on the Fixtures and Calendar pages. Once again, our KS3 and KS4 badminton teams have not disappointed, with both teams progressing through the Regional Championships today to reach the National Finals yet again. The Finals will take place on the 6th and 7th May.
The results are in and County House have once again dominated House Basketball this year. House Basketball normally takes place in the Michaelmas Term, but was postponed this year due to the refurbishment of the gym. However, this didn't stop County coming away with five of the six titles in the sport, adding 23 points to their house total as a result. Unfortunately for County, a 4th place finish for Year 11s means that the clean sweep has evaded them for yet another year, but their dominance in the sport has led to the house creating an impressive 22 point lead over rivals East House.
Though this lead may seem too large to overhaul at this stage of the competition, the new competition system means that several departments around the school will be offering house points in the form of House General Knowledge, Eisteddfod and Science Writing, to name just a few. These events have not yet taken place, and could yet change the destination of the House Cup. Don't forget that a full list of fixtures complete to the end of this academic year, including any County Cup fixtures, are available on both the Fixtures tab and the Calendar page.
Our first basketball fixture of the year was filled with excitement and energy, with Reading School losing by a narrow margin of 8 points (42 - 34) to Leighton Park.
Please note that arrangements for this Wednesday's senior block fixture against Forest School are changing continually - at the moment, it is expected that all matches will kick off at 14:00, with the 1st and 2nd XIs playing away at Forest and the 3rd and 4th XIs playing at Morgan Road.
